This benchmark is located at the base of a vertical rock outcrop. The cap is set in bedrock about 125 feet WSW of Griffs on the Dock Restaurant. The cap was set by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1974 and was marked NO 9.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1988. 0.7 KM (0.45 MI) SOUTHWESTERLY ALONG HARBOR DRIVE FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 101 IN PORT ORFORD, AT THE SOUTHEAST BASE OF A LARGE VERTICAL AREA OF OUTCROPPING BEDROCK, 38.1 M (125.0 FT) SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE DOCK SNACK BAR, 29.9 M (98.1 FT) SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE DRIVE, 20.2 M (66.3 FT) SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTH CORNER OF A BLOCK BUILDING, AND 7.9 M (25.9 FT) NORTHWEST OF BENCH MARK 1647 G TIDAL. THE MARK IS 1.0 M ABOVE THE DRIVE.
