The Queen Elizabeth II Equestrian statue is located between the Center Block and the East Block buildings on the grounds of Parliament Hill in downtown Ottawa. The bronze was sculpted by Jack Harman, from British Columbia, and his son. The statue has the Queen riding the Royal Canadian Mounted Police horse named Centenial -- a gift from the RCMP to the Queen in 1973.
The Queen, herself, unvieled the statue in 1992. The status was proposed in 1987 to celebrate the Queen's 40th year of reign and Canada's 125th year as a nation. The references say that this was the first equestrian statue of the Queen.
