Erected in 1902 this Boer War memorial is topped with a marble rifleman, modelled on the first local soldier to die in the conflict.

This Empire memorial was one of the first built in Victoria.
It consists of a sculputured marble rifleman mounted on a rough grey granite base and a polished pink granite pedestal.
It is located centrally in the Finlay Avenue of Elms.
This is lovely area with the beautiful elm avenue and several other noteworthy monuments.
