Botvidsgatan Then, sometime during the 1120s, died was his brother Bjorn in 1129 a wooden stave church in the farm lands near the Hammarby Lake Aspen in the current North Alby. The wooden church was replaced by Bothwidiia kirki , a stone church in the Romanesque style, with round-arch windows and the vestibule. The church was consecrated in 1176 of Stephen, first Archbishop of Uppsala with Vilhelmus, bishop of Strangnas. Of the original wooden church there is nothing left but probably it was in the same location as the current church building.
The medieval buildings
Long Hall is that part of the church which survived to the present. Since then, some extensions made. During the Middle Ages the church was extended eastward as it ursprunliga chancel was demolished and replaced by the current straight ended chancel. Vestry and porch were added during the Middle Ages and is probably contemporary .The church tower was part of the original building plans but built only at some time during the period 1180 to 1249. Two protruding rocks units located above the surface of the nave west gable, which shows that from the beginning was going to build a wider sector than it was built. During the 1400s the church was afforded the room ceiling with four stellar vaults of brick. Some murals seem vaults never have had.
