This is a fun sculpture to see on the OSU campus. It is located on the east side of campus, near several athletic venues. The rider is atop the horse and holding a large waving OSU flag. It is placed atop a concrete pillar on a grassy area near the athletics center. The horse is in a running stance with its tail out, and the rider is leaning forward. The sculptor did a great job showing action with this piece of art.
Text on main plaque:
The OSU Spirit Rider
This monument was donated to Oklahoma State University through the support and generosity of those noted on the plaques around its base.
It is the creation of the noted Western Bronze Sculptor Jim L. Hamilton, a native Oklahoman.
This image of cooperation and coordination between man and horse captures the tradition, the energy and the spirit that are hallmarks of a great state - and a great University.
