Official Description: A large medallion with an eagle in high relief is set in the pediments of the east and west facade of a building. The eagle is shown in partial profile with wings half-spread. The eagle holds arrows in its talons. The state seal of Indiana is set in the north and south pediments of the building. The seal is in high relief and depicts an axman, a bison and a rising/setting sun. Also adorning the building are various smaller reliefs including: fruit basket, draped urn, mythological bearded male face, female face, scales, lion-headed Chymera, horse-headed Chymera, eagle-headed Chymera and a griffin.
A walk around the entire building is needed to observe all of the decorations. The building is no longer a courthouse, but turned over to Indiana State University for operation and preservation.
