Schuyler County Courthouse - Lancaster, Missouri - posted by SecurB

Schuyler County was established February 14, 1845 with the first county seat in Tippecanoe, however later the same year the county seat was moved to Lancaster where it has remained since. The current courthouse is the fifth for the county, replacing one built in 1895. The current courthouse was built beginning in 1960 and completed July 30, 1961. The courthouse was designed by architect Kenneth O. von Achen and Associates. The two-story, red brick, trimmed with white stone courthouse was built by contractors J. J. Watson and R. W. Warren of Kansas City for $254,351. the courthouse is well maintained and is the major building in this small rural community.
