Completed in 2005 the Maple Ash Neighborhood Association integrated its water standpipes into an abstract tribute to the history of the irrigation project that took the area from desert to a lush green area.
A small public plaza was created from man hole covers, 1/4 concrete piping and various other items used to channel water to the neighborhood. The 7' active water standpipe is covered in tiles that are imprinted with newspaper articles, commentary and pictures covering the history of the area and the Work Projects Administration Project that funded the irrigation system. The ground is framed with metal that is symbolic of the Salt River that fed the water in the system.
