The clock is mounted high in the tower of the Marion County Courthouse in Knoxville, Iowa. The courthouse was was built in 1896. The building was designed by architect M.E. Bell in the Richardson Romanesque style and is constructed of from Berea limestone. The courthouse was was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.
