The memorial has a Civil War soldier standing on a tall shaft. The uniformed soldier stands at parade rest. He holds the barrel of his rifle with both hands, and its butt is on the ground. The shaft has reliefs of crossed rifles, crossed swords, and medals decorating each side. The shaft is inscribed:
Erected To The Memory
Of All Departed
Soldiers Sailors
And Marines
The base is inscribed:
