This early building was once a house that was converted to a public house in the 20th century. The house is of 16-17th century date and incorporates a 15th century cross wing to form a T plan hall-house. The addition to the front cross wing is of the 19th century. The main chimney is probably 17th century.
The building is timber framed with plaster pargetting. The pargetting on the upper floor has a central oval with the date 1595 painted within. The ground floor is now faced with painted brickwork with a dark plinth.
