The First Boaters
The first to boat the Rogue were the Indians who lived along its banks and paddled their canoes with great skill. During the 1850s, the river transported supplies, including mining equipment and food for those whol flocked to the region in the rush for gold and land.
Work Can Be Fun
After World War I, a new era began on the Rogue as people sought out the excitement of what the waters offered. Larry Lucas, Claude Bardin and Glen Wooldridge were among the first fishing guides on the Rogue who helped anglers and whitewater boaters find enjoyment and fulfillment.
Today
Many still journey down the waters of the Rogue seeking their own adventures and pleaures, very much like those who came before them.
