A statue honoring Robert Pilcher graces the western main entrance to the large arboreal park which takes his name. The etched pedestal reads:
ROBERT PILCHER
Sturdy Pioneer
Loyal Citizen
Lover of Nature
And His Fellowmen
A Dreamer Whose Dream Held
Donor
With His Family
of
Pilcher Arboretum
July 31, 1920
When the park opened to the public in 1920, equestian trails, footpaths and one-way drive were wildly popular allowing visitors to escape among the trees. These trails are still popular today - especially to geocachers.
One major addition to Pilcher Park is a
Nature Center where children (and adults) can ask questions and get a close-up look (
but don't touch!) of various animals that can be found in the adjoining woods.
