The Appanoose County Post 526 VFW is located in a former Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Passenger Depot built beginning in 1911 and opened February 1912. It remained in that capacity until 1982. In 1990, the Appanoose County Post 526 Veterans of Foreign Wars purchased the building to use as their meeting hall and to preserve the depot.
