This monument is dedicated to the members of the Fourth Marine Division who saw action during World War II. Known as the “Fighting Fourth,” the division saw action at such places as Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima.
This small monument is located in the Salisbury National Cemetery and was dedicated in 2002 by the Fourth Marine Division Division – Carolina Chapter.
The Memorial Inscription reads:
