John Buchan the famous Scottish Diplomat, historian , biographer and novelist. On his appointment as Governor- General of Canada, in 1935 he was given the Peerage with the Title Lord Tweedsmuir.
When he died in 1940, mourned by admirers all over the world, his ashes were brought home to be buried in Elsfield Churchyard.
There is a round stone Carved with a cross and a Greek Inscription which means " Christ will Prevail" at the Eastern part of the Churchyard.
