Davidson College is a private college located in the town of Davidson, North Carolina, which is about 30-miles north of Charlotte. Davidson is a highly ranked educational institution and over the years has graduated 23 Rhodes Scholars. Both the town and the college were named for Revolutionary War General William Lee Davidson. Established by Presbyterians in 1837 the college still maintains its Presbyterian affiliation today.
The Davidson Wildcats compete in 21 NCAA Division 1 Sports including Men’s and Women’s Basketball and are members of the Southern Conference.
This historic marker is located on Main Street between Griffith and Depot Streets at the entrance to the College.

DAVIDSON COLLEGE
Founded 1837 by Presbyterians. Named for General W. L. Davidson. Woodrow Wilson studied here 1873-74.
