The Gibson was built in 1921 by Dr. C. W. Gibson. Initially used for plays as well as silent movies, the theatre was converted to "talking pictures" in 1929. At some point the original facade was updated with a "Vitrolite" covering, which gave the structure the "space-age" look that it still has today.
