Clegern Park
Clegern Park, the smallest of Edmond's parks, for many years was known as Half-Acre Park. For some time, a deep ditch cut through this corner lot. The City ultimately put a drainage tile through the lot and filled the area. Residents in the neighborhood, whose children attended Clegern Elementary School, requested the City Council change the name of the park to Clegern Park in honor of the school. Harry Clergern (sic), a land developer, donated the land for the school in 1928. He was concerned about the students crossing Second Street to attend Kingsley School. By 1931, Clegern Elementary School was ready for its first students.
On February 26, 1990, the City Council took action and changed the name of Half-Acre Park to Clegern Park.
