The Atlanta Carnegie Library originally located at Forsyth and Carnegie Way, was designed by Ackerman and Ross 1900-1902.
The library was torn down in 1977, and the famous architect Henri Jova, in 1996, designed an arch using remnants from the facade of the library. This arch is called the Carnegie Education Pavilion or the Carnegie Arch, is located in Hardy Ivy Park -- the public space across the street from the SunTrust Plaza skyscraper in downtown Atlanta.
The inscription across the top says "Dedicated to the Advancement of Learning." The famous names inscribed on the arch: Carnegie, Aesop, Dante, and Milton. All inscriptions were found on the original building.
The Atlanta Carnegie Library is one of more than 1600 public library building constructed between 1889 and 1923 through the donatations of Andrew Carnegie and his charitable corporation.
