In the hamlet of Le Coin, just up the valley from Arvieux is the first sundial signed by Zarbula GZF and dated 1830 (MDCCCXXX). This early design has an hour circle inside a crossed rectangular frame. The sundial was restored in 1986. The cheerful motto is “En regardant quelle heure il est pense a la mort et tient toi prêt” (When looking at the time, think of Death and prepare yourself.) SAF Reference 0500706.

The residence is available to rent with "Gites de France", on of several gites in the building. In 2005, we were invited in and onto the deck to take close up pictures of the dial.

Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
