In Cambridge on the Cambridge Common near Harvard Square, is a tall monument to the Civil War. At the center of the monument in an open alcove, stands a bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln, near life-size. The base of the statue is located about 10 feet above the ground. Below the statue are several plaques. Some of them are listings of names of men who died during the war. On one side is a plaque that has the entire text of the Gettysburg Address made by Lincoln in Gettysburg, PA.
The statue and monument was designed by Cyrus and Darius Cobb in 1870.
