Horace Williams Airport tis the municipal airport for Chapel Hill. The airport is actually owned by the University of North Carolina and considered part of the campus. There 47 aircraft based at this field.

Horace Williams was a UNC professor who donated land to build the airport.

UNC may be closing this field at some point in the future to build a new research campus on the site. Some locals and aircraft owners are fighting this plan.
