In 1972, the county built a modern two-story brick courthouse approximately one-half mile from downtown Buchanan. This courthouse is of modern style, very functional but not aesthetic in appearance.
The strongest visual feature of this courthouse is a howitzer at the bottom of a large hill directly in front of the building.
