From the inventory: "Bronze sculpture of a large pelican with open beak and outspread wings placed directly on the ground.
Anthony Hall formerly called the Pelican Building. The sculpture, which cost $9,000 was donated by Earle C. Anthony. It served as a symbol for the campus journal "The Pelican," which was published out of the Pelican Building."
