Piedras Marcadas Canyon, one three separate and distinct areas of petroglyphs in Petroglyph National Monument, leads visitors along an undeveloped sand trail against the base of a basalt lava escarpment. This area has some of the largest petroglyph concentrations in the National Monument estimated to be over 5,000 petroglyphs. These rock carvings were done by ancestral Native Americans, Native American, and some by Spaniards as they traveled through the area.
Access is available at the Las Marcadas parking lot on Jill Patricia, off of Golf Course Road south of Paradise Blvd.
