The Collins Street Baptist Church is located on Collins Street, just East of the Melbourne Town Hall. The congregation was formed in 1843.
The church was architected by Joesph Reed (1823?-1890). Built in 1862, it was designed in the neo-Greek style -- church's website says it "reflects the Baptist understanding of the church as a gathered community of believers rather than as a special building." Reed also designed many other nearby Melbourne iconic buildings (The Scots' Church, St Michael's Uniting Church, St Paul's Cathedral, Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne Town Hall, etc).
