There are three major, regional bus stations in Bangkok, those linking Bangkok to the rest of Thailand. Ekamai is the smallest of the three and caters to travellers from eastern Thailand. It is found immediately adjacent to the Ekamai BTS (Skytrain) station, which renders reaching to Ekamai from elsewhere in Bangkok an easy task.
The terminal takes the form of a front carpark/drop off–pickup area, including street vendors doing their thing. A multi-story terminal building where tickets can be purchased, with toilets, more vendors and waiting areas, and, at the rear of the building, two main lanes of bus parking bays. Of the 'big three' bus terminals in Bangkok, this is the quietest and calmest.
The terminal (as are the two others) are managed by the Thai government owned, The Transport Co. Ltd. The principal destinations are: Pattaya, Rayong, Sattahip, Sriracha, Chonburi, Bangkala, Chachoengsao, Trat, Chanthaburi, Banphe, Kleang and Sakaew.
The waymark was taken in the front carpark.
Note: pronounced (in the Thai language): "Ek-am-I" or "Ek-um-I'. Emphasis on the 'I".
