This monument is similar to the typical civil war monuments in Georgia. This one is in moderate condition and will need some maintenance in a few years. The soldier depicted is a little younger looking than the ones I have observed elsewhere.
The monument is in good condition and apparently has been refurbished since the 1993 Smithsonian inventory which says it needs urgent condition.

Across the street from the Schley County Courthouse.
DIFFERENCES NOTED BETWEEN THE INVENTORY LISTING AND YOUR OBSERVATIONS AND RESEARCH:
There is a possibility that this monument has been relocated since the 1993 inventory. It now stands in a park in the median directly across from the courthouse not on the square. The courthouse was renovated in 1993 so it is "possible" that it was moved at that time. The monument is in good condition now and was noted as needing immediate repair in the inventory. Putting all this together I estimate that it was taken down for renovation then erected across the street at that time. I do not have independent verification of this but in my judgement it is probably what happened.
