This elevation mark is located on Rim Drive at Crater Lake N.P., about 2.8 miles east of North Junction at the Steel Bay viewpoint. The elevation mark is about 60 feet south of road centerline, set in top of low rock wall, 66 feet from east end of wall. The cap was set by the BPR in 1937 and was marked 7-8. Similar BPR caps (but unmarked) occur at many viewpoints along Rim Drive.

DESCRIBED BY US BUREAU OF PUBLIC ROADS 1957 (VRS) IN CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK, ON THE NORTH RIM OF CRATER LAKE, AT THE EAST END OF THE PARKING AREA AT THE FIRST VIEW POINT EAST OF LLAO ROCK. TO REACH FROM THE STONE BUILDING AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH ENTRANCE ROAD AND RIM DRIVE, GO NORTH AND EAST ON RIM DRIVE FOR 2.6 MILES TO THE VIEW POINT AND THE STATION ON THE RIGHT. STATION IS MARKED BY A BUREAU OF PUBLIC ROADS BRASS BENCH MARK DISK, STAMPED 7-8, IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE TOP OF A LOW, CURVING STONE WALL, 65.9 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE EAST END OF THE WALL, 62 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF RIM DRIVE AND 38.2 FEET NORTHEAST OF A LARGE, DEAD SNAG. THERE ARE NO REFERENCE MARKS.
