St. Paul's Church was built in 1812 when Frostburg was a famous stagecoach stopping place for travelers on the National Pike. Luxury hotels catered to travelers heading east or west. As railroads caused a decline in traffic on the National Pike, coal mining became the economic engine for Frostburg.
The church was gutted by a fire in 1874. The rebuilding of the church was completed in 1879. An additional cornerstone can be found at the rear of the church building marking an addition in 1954.
St Paul's today is an active worshiping community.
