Situated at the left front corner of Presidio Courthouse lawn in the small town of Marfa, Texas, this monument is not something that many people would travel to specifically see. People come to Marfa mainly to see the Marfa Lights, or to pass by on the way to somewhere else.

That's when you need to turn onto the street in town that leads to the courthouse, and plan to be amazed by this beautiful structure.

Courthouse

As you think about this magnificently restored building, take time think about what it stands for, and how it combines with others like it throughout our nation to give us our form of government. But before you get back into your vehicle and ride off, walk over to the corner of the lawn and reflect for a moment on what it is that allows us to live as we do. Think about what sacrifices have been made to allow you to stand here and hold dear the peace and freedoms we enjoy.

Front

It may look like nothing more than a gray granite slab stuck off in the corner of the courthouse lawn, but if you'll stand there and look at it, you'll realize it is truly much more.

Description of Memorial:

It's just a small Texas town, and we came to see the world famous Marfa Lights. Driving through town the magnificently restored Presidio County Courthouse stands as breath of fresh air and invites you to look closer at the town. That's when you will discover all the beautiful church buildings and other interesting places it has to offer.

Take some time to stroll around town and you may find your thinking a little clearer and your step a little lighter. If you see that granite slab near the Courthouse, use your new found clarity and energy to dedicate yourself to our freedoms, we all will be better off for it.
