Long time South Florida benefactor, Florence”Flossy” Keesely, has been involved in show business for most of her life. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she met and married husband Nick in 1932 and soon moved to New York City.
Mrs. Keesely and her husband moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1966. Ten years later they settled in Boca Raton. It didn’t take long for Flossy to get involved with a number of charities including the Habilitation Center for the Handicapped, Starting Over, a non-profit training program, Wayne Barton’s Kids, the Boca Ballet, Harid Conservatory, Lynn University, Florida Atlantic University, and the Boca/Delray Music Society.
Ever a champion of the arts, Flossy has given one of her most magnificent gifts, to Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park. “Flossy’s Fountain” is a seven foot bronze sculpture and fountain at the entrance to the pavilion and amphitheater was created by Israeli sculptor, Yaacov Heller. The sculpture is a likeness of Mrs. Keesely and “Flossy’s Foundation” is inscribed on it. Flossy has sponsored countless musical and theatrical performances, including the Florida Ziegfeld Girls, the Caldwell Theater, and the Symphony of the Americas.
