Dalby church is not Sweden's oldest church, because Dalby was a part of Denmark at the time. Nor is it Denmark's oldest church, as it now is in Sweden.

Dalby Heligkorskyrka considered to have begun to be built during the Danish king Svend Estridsens time, at year 1060. The cathedral in Hildesheim served as model King Svend Estridsen initiated a creation of religious center, and also his King's Residence.
The first, and so far the only bishop was Egino who was appointed to the office of the controversial Archbishop Adalbert of Hamburg-Bremen in the years from 1060 to 1066.
The Danish king Harald Heins, who died 17th of April 1080 are buried in Dalby.
In the early 1100's came to the church transformed into an abbey associated Independent Augustinian Communities. The monastery also took over the farm buildings and use them until the bulk was razed sometime in the 1300's after which new buildings erected in its place.
The monastery has been burning for at least one occasion and also to go bad during the Swedish Karl Knutsson ravages of Skåne during the 1450's.
In connection with the Danish Reformation was reconstituted Dalby monasteries with all their lands and houses in to the Danish Crown.
