Even though little has been documented on this particular structure, it has been preserved because it is very similar to the school George Washington attended during his boyhood years when he lived at nearby Ferry Farm.
In 1930, Falmouth's historic community, with the help of architect Edward Donn, moved this one-room log cabin schoolhouse from the corner of Butler Rd. and Carter St. in Falmouth to its present location on Carter St. It is a simple building with chimney and constructed of bricks and mortar and logs.
Hobby School is on the grounds of Union Church and adjoining cemetery which is open daily to the public. Visitors are free to wander around the little schoolhouse, but it remains locked up.
