"The Santa Clara depot, built in 1864, was an orginal waystation on the San Francisco and San Jose Railroad Line. Initially built on the east side of the tracks, the depot was movied in 1877 to it's present location so it could be on the same side of the tracks as the city and university.
It is the oldest passenger depot still in use in California. The structure was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, February 28, 1985."
