Once known as Baker's Falls these falls were renamed Paine Falls in 1974 with the development of this park. The area was originally settled in the early 1800's and was then known as Paine's Hollow. No traces remain of the sawmill, iron forge and furnace, tannery, shoemaker and wagon maker who settled in the area.
Today these falls can be found in a 377 acre park that is managed by Lake County. There is a trail with steps leading from the parking area to a viewing spot for the falls. Most of the former foot paths that allowed closer access to the falls have been removed and signs posted prohibiting entering the areas. The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
