Alphonse Haag had operated a restaurant, gradually narrowed the focus to candy and soft drinks, and eventually built the bottling works. By 1917 he'd gotten the bottling business running under a succession of owner / operators who continued to use the HAAG brand (replacing bottles was expensive.)

Photos exist showing the building under construction, and early bottling operations.
