De Leeuw - Aalsmeer, Netherlands - Windmills on Waymarking.com

De Leeuw is een achtkante stellingmolen gebouwd in 1863. Functie van de molen was het malen van graan. Al sinds 1547 heeft er op ongeveer 400 meter zuidoost een standerdmolen gestaan. In 1863 werd deze molen vanwege te weinig windvang naar de huidige locatie overgebracht en herbouwd op een achtkantige stenen onderbouw.
De Leeuw is tot omstreeks 1930 in bedrijf geweest en daarna in verval geraakt. Na een aantal grote restauraties is de molen thans weer maalvaardig en wordt hij op vrijwillige basis bemalen.
