The STONE HOUSE (R), 25.5 m., a well-preserved two-story building of brown sandstone, served as a hospital for both Union and Confederate soldiers. It was used by John Esten Cooke for a ghostly episode in his novel, Surry of Eagle's Nest.
The stone house is now a subunit of the Manassas National Battlefield Park and is featured as a stop along the driving tour highlighting important locations during the Second Battle of Manassas. The house is open on weekends only, with varying hours. A ranger is present inside the house to answer any questions one may have.
