There are now over 247 Ronald McDonald Houses that serve more than 3,000 families around the world - from the USA to Canada, Australia, The Netherlands and Germany - over 25 countries in all.
Parents, concerned citizens, medical personnel and McDonald owners have worked together for nearly a decade to establish the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia. In 1999, representatives from Ronald McDonald House Charities enthusiastically approved the Macon site for a thirteen bedroom, 21,000 square foot house that will provide nearly 5,000 room nights annually.
Our house, located on the corner of Orange and Forsyth Street, is just one block from the Children's Hospital at the Medical Center of Central Georgia and just over a mile to the Coliseum Medical Centers.
We are very grateful for the amount of support we received from the following organizations. It is with their help that we are able to serve families with tremendous hardships. Thank you!
MedCen Foundation and The Medical Center of Central Georgia
McDonald's Co-op
Macon Civic Club
Junior League of Macon, Inc.
Medical Center Auxiliary (Pink Ladies)
Bibb County Medical Society and Alliance
And many, many more individuals, companies, foundations, civic clubs and churches.
The Central Georgia House is truly a community effort and labor of love. Although each House is affiliated with an international network of Ronald McDonald Houses worldwide, the Central Georgia House is an independent, non-profit corporation, locally owned and operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia, Inc. Our House is not a United Way Agency and receives no government funding. We are entirely dependent on donations from the community.
The House That Love Built is the result of care put into action as thousands of caring people from throughout central Georgia have contributed time, material, donations and love.
