[FR] Ils ont ete renoves par des benevoles de la commune dans les annees 90.
Autrefois on ne lavait le linge que deux ou trois fois par an. La lessive alors s'effectuait en deux temps, le linge etaite "essange" c'est-a-dire lave une premiere fois et place sans etre repasse dans une manne en osier en attendant le jour de la "grande lessive". Les lavoirs ont ete utilises jusqu'a la fin des annees cinquante. L'eau courante est arrivee a Saint Vaast en 1958.
[EN] The lavoirs were renovated by volunteers from the community in the 1990s.
In former times, the laundry was only washed twice or three times per year. The washing then was done in two steps, the laundry was prewashed, meaning, washed a first time and placed without ironing in a wicker basket and waited the day of the "big washing". The lavoirs were used until the end of the 1950s. Running water came to Saint Vaast in 1958.
