Rev. Charles Simmons Harrison (1832-1919) was a prominent early York resident who founded a nursery before moving on to pastor churches and promote Christian academies. Two decades later he returned to York to "start over." He built this home at 829 York Avenue, and founded C.S. Harrison Select Nursery a block west at 901 Division (WM7CX2). The historic photo of the Harrison home appears on pg. 10 of "The Gold Mine in the Front Yard," published in 1905.
