Theodore Burr was one of the top covered bridge builders. Since builders knew little about the true working of how truss bridges worked (mechanics) for greater strength and additional length, they utitized a combination of arches and trusses called camelback or hump bridges. (because of the arches) Camel Back Bridge was a covered bridge spanning the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg.
