Cranberry Peak located only a few miles out of Stratton Maine, is part of 33,000 acre state owned preserve. The summit enjoys beautiful views of Flagstaff Lake, Sugarloaf Mtn. and the new windmill farm on Kibby Mtn. On a clear day you can see beyond into Canada. The parking can be found on Currie street in Stratton and the trailhead is about .25 miles down the dirt road. From here you can take your time and hike to the summit passing several places to peak at the surrounding vistas. The elevation at the summit is 3213’. The hike takes about 2.5 – 3 hours up and 2 -2.5 back down. You can hike the loop and pass by Cranberry Pond and end at Stratton Brook Road. The distance and time will be about the same. Spotting a second vehicle here will save you the 3 mile walk by road.
