The construction is part of the major construction project around Rotterdam CS, began in 2006 and cost 146 million euros. Next June (2010) the subway goes the undergound in one time to Den Haag Centraal. This is a 30 meter depth of 2.5 kilometers long tunnel dug as part of the Randstadrail. Late this year begins the construction of the new central station, which should be ready in 2012. This is necessary because the expected influx of passengers: the Randstadrail, the HSL from Amsterdam to Paris, train, tram and bus are that 330,000 in 2025. It old station could the current 110,000 passengers per day if not more. It was built in 1957 by architect Ravenstein, as part of the reconstruction of the devastated port city. Incidentally, for the Rotterdam Central Station no war, only four stations in and around the center: Delft Gate, Exhibition, and Maas Hofplein.
