This is a very simple memorial - just a flag pole with a plaque, but it's a nice place to visit. Suavie Island is a special place: it comprised of approximately 30,000 acres of land and lakes bounded by the waters of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. Visitors are invited to enjoy its scenic drives thru farm and dairy lands, hunting and fishing.

Description of Memorial: This memorial is placed adjacent to a parking lot which serves as welcome center for the island. The island has only one bridge linking it with the mainland. When you come across the bridge to visit the island, the first thing you meet is this parking lot. It's a very popular spot for bicyclists who want to ride around the island or ride up Highway 30.
