At Monument Square in the commercial section of Portland, Maine, is a green post with a disk shaped top, all in green, with a digital display that alternately shows the time and temperature. The sign is for the nearby TD Banknorth branch (TD or Toronto Dominion bank is trying to consolidate the name to TD Bank as of this writing).
This particular sign is next to the Time and Temperature Building, which has that name on the building and readable. Why is that on the building? Is it the name of a company. I could not see anything from the ground, but when I went home, I found out that there is a large electronic sign at the top of the building that is readable from other parts of the city. Well, it will have to be a waymark for another time. Meanwhile, I'll just have to be happy to have a waymark next to it.
