Ray Charles was a musical genius who spent much of his childhood in Greenville, Fl. He was known to his childhood playmates as "R.C.". His sight failed when he was 7 years old, and he was sent to St. Augustine, Fl. to the School for the Deaf and Blind to continue his education. He would return to Greenville to spend his summers.
