Just another backwoods bear that found his way to a roof top. This is another chainsaw carving done by one of the locals. They do a great job of getting the rough shape down and then they get to work with their chisels. A few black marbles for the eyes and some paint and they're good to go.
After a time these bears will get some pretty nasty cracks in them as the woods dries. Most folks take them back to the guys that made them. They are really good at putting wedges in the cracks and cutting and sanding them down flush and repainting them. In a couple days the bears look better then ever and go back home with their owners. You really have to love how artistic these guys can get. My next waymark in this category will be an eagle.
To find this one take Route 5 west from Amsterdam into Fonda. This one is on the roof of T.C. Flooring, right across the road from the dollar general. Happy Waymarking, Swizzle & Family
